Senior Minister
Philosophy of Ministry:
Boyd Christian Church is located in Dix (Boyd), IL. Our community and congregation are largely made up of rural residents; most Caucasian; age ranges from 0-90. We are a church of 125-135 in attendance each weekend and we emphasize the importance of being a mission-driven congregation, pursuing the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by “seeking and saving the lost” (Luke 19:10). It is our passion to connect with broken people who need the help and hope of Jesus Christ. By becoming spiritually mature, surrendered followers of Jesus, making disciples is our way of life.
We pursue the ministry example of Jesus as described in Philippians 2:1-8. This is reflected in who we are as described in our vision, mission, and value statements:

Position Description:
The Senior Minister of Boyd Christian Church has five primary responsibilities:
1. Being our primary preaching/teaching voice.
The lead minister must possess skills in communicating the Word of God in correct and relevant ways, both in worship gatherings, as well as in smaller group settings.
2. Providing leadership to our staff team and throughout the church. The lead minister is the primary point person, providing leadership to the church staff, as well as developing a leadership culture within the church so that leaders will produce leaders. Additionally, there is a special focus on growing and nurturing our family ministries, recognizing the importance of fostering faith from a young age to inspire and develop the next generation. This helps to grow a younger, vibrant community. The lead minister will cast a God-honoring vision to the congregation as developed by the elder and staff leadership teams. We need our lead minister to lead principally by example, serving as a leader among leaders (1 Corinthians 11:1). He will be an elder working alongside other elders and staff to maintain and enhance relational health throughout the church.
3. Engaging people relationally, both within the church and throughout our community.
The lead minister must possess strong interpersonal skills that enable him to develop authentic relationships with intergenerationally, among Christians and those yet to become Christians. Our lead minister will model the compassion of Jesus (Matthew 9:36).
4. Be our primary representative to our community and beyond.
Our lead minister will be the proverbial face of our church to those outside our congregation, such as to our community, as well as to our ministry partners (i.e., mission partnership building and ministries, etc.). As such, the lead minister must be skilled both in relationship building and communications so that our church relates well with those in our sphere of influence.
Position Requirements:
• The lead minister must possess a vibrant, ever-growing walk with God. His spiritual formation is of utmost importance and must be exhibited in his attitudes, actions, and daily life decisions. The lead minister must evidence strong marriage and family health.
• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Ministry from a Restoration Movement College
• Preferred: Graduate degree from a Restoration Movement Seminary
• Preferred: Ordained as a Minister by a Restoration Movement church
• Preferred: Five years of experience, effectively leading a Restoration Movement church
Our ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who can guide our church in fulfilling the Great Commission while also tending to the spiritual needs of our congregation. We seek someone who will inspire us to love God, with all our heart, soul, mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
